Lower Green Valley Creek Off-Channel Habitat Enhancement Project – Confluence Reach

In summer 2026 the Gold Ridge Resource Conservation District will construct the Lower Green Valley Creek Off-Channel Habitat Enhancement Project on two private properties. The project will contribute to coho salmon and steelhead trout recovery in the Russian River watershed by creating and connecting off-channel habitat along Green Valley Creek to provide a refuge from high flows and serve as winter foraging habitat for juvenile fish.

We anticipate that construction of the project will begin in early July and continue until mid-October. Construction activities will include earthwork, placement of large wood as habitat structures, and planting native plants. Construction vehicles and equipment will access the site from Thomas Road during some durations of the project. There may be brief traffic delays along Thomas Road in order to safely move equipment in and out of the project site.

We are building this project in collaboration with the private landowners and local, state, federal, and tribal governments. If you have questions or concerns about the project, please contact John Green at the Gold Ridge Resource Conservation District: 707-823-5244, Ext 10 or john AT goldridgercd.org.
